Xinformatics
Xinformatics, pronounced "zenformatics", in an integrated multidisciplinary science combining a traditional or nontraditional discipline with informatics discipline. Xinformatics broadly encompasses disciplines such as medical informatics/health informatics, bioinformatics, geoinformatics, chemoinformatics, hydroinformatics, nanoinformatics, environinformatics, petro informatics, meteoinformatics, agroinformatics, (and more), all of which enable and underpin a modern technological society. Xinformatics also can be written as x-informatics [1]."X-informatics", is the name of the research fields with the suffix "informatics," among which the most notable one is "bioinformatics." Xinformatics aim at acquiring new viewpoints and models by applying informatics-based approaches to existing fields such as biology.[2] Currently, few academic programs are researching in the area of xinformatics. Xinformatics Working Group at Bryn Mawr College is one of them [3]. The Xinformatics Working Group is composed of faculty, students, and staff interested in combining computation with other disciplines.
